Airsoft Marui P90 – Product Review
Almost all Airsoft enthusiasts probably heard about the Tokyo Marui Airsoft P90. The popularity of this assault rifle is thanks mainly to its complete package. The Marui P90’s design is unconventional. At first glance it can’t be mistaken for a gun. Almost all of its features are not the same as an ordinary rifle.
First of all, its shape is box type with no protruding parts. The P90’s unique design makes others uncomfortable in using it. It is so compact that everything is strategically placed for easy access. The handle grip is like holding the number 8 sideways with thumb and index finger inside both holes. It is made almost entirely of durable plastic aside from the flash-hider which is made of metal. It has a built in red dot scope and can be adjusted by using a wrench that comes with the package. The battery compartment is located at the buttstock. It can hold an 8.4 Volt 1100 maH battery which can also be upgraded for a stronger result.
The magazine is big compared to a regular size M16 rifle. Its slot is located at the top just under the sights. The magazine’s size makes the P90 one of the most expensive assault rifles out in the market. Loading the magazine is quite tedious requiring the use of a plunger. Since its an assault rifle the safety switch which is strategically located directly at the bottom of the trigger can be switched to safe to semi-auto to full-auto. There is a small trap door located under the first hole handle which gives access to the hop-up adjustment system.
A stock version of the P90 can fire 800 to 900 BB pellets per second and has a firing rate of 280 to 300 feet per second. The gearbox is so efficient that it can run on an 8.4 volt battery all day. It requires little to no maintenance due to its compact design. A push of a button and a small pulling force can split the weapon in two for cleaning.
The only downside for this weapon is the magazine. It is hard to find a vest pocket that can hold the magazine so it sometimes ends up in the back pocket with half of it sticking up.
